Rhone

Often divided between its northern and southern climates, the Rhône Valley is associated with both the purity of Syrah in the cooler northern appellations of Côte Rôtie and Hermitage; and the often blended Grenache and Mourvèdre in the southern Châteauneuf-du-Pape.  The region also produces some outstanding white wines from Condrieu and Hermitage.

Outstanding producers include Jean-Louis Chave, Guigal, Rayas and Beaucastel.
