Collection: Bordeaux
Stylistically, Bordeaux is divided between the Left Bank and Right Bank of the Gironne River. The Left Bank's most famous appellations exist in the "Medoc" and are associated with Cabernet Sauvignon dominated wines and blends with various proportions of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The Right Bank famous for the Pomerol and Saint-Emilion appellations tend to be more Merlot dominant.
Outstanding producers include the 1st Growths (Mouton, Lafite, Latour, Margaux and Haut Brion) along with a range of so-called Super Seconds that are considered almost as good in many top vintages. These include Leoville Las Cases, Cos d'Estournel, La Mission Haut Brion and Palmer to name a few. The Right Bank is home to famed producers Petrus, Le Pin, Cheval Blanc, Ausone, Angelus and Lafleur.
The Sauternes region is famous for the sweet botrytised wines, most famous of all being Yquem.
